A period drama about a widowed lawyer who travels to a secluded secretive
village on an important assignment. In a short time he encounters a vengeful ghost
with mysterious motives. After losing his beloved wife in childbirth,
Arthur Kipps was nearly consumed by grief and he still struggles to raise his young son with the help of a devoted
nanny. Arthur is on the verge of losing his job when an important
client of the firm dies. His boss offers him one last opportunity to
prove his worth by settling the woman's affairs.
Determined to succeed, Arthur travels to the remote village and
receives a
chilly welcome.
This is not very good, everything that can be used
to scare you is pulled out of the hat. Why doesn't Kipps just get on
with going through the papers and leave the ghost hunting to someone
more qualified? He goes out in the fog looking for the people he can
hear but cannot see. At least he has a neighbor's dog to alert him when
he's really in danger. 3* (This movie is OK)
