Filmmakers Dan Susman and Andrew Monbouquette decide to film a road
trip to meet men and women challenging how America grows and supplies
food. They discover many cities
are taking vacant city property, rooftops, backyards and New York windows to
grow food. They also find food is
not the only positive result of their efforts. Families are able to provide healthy food for their children,
men and women are gaining jobs that can also sustain them and their
families. Animals are being raised
which provide food but also fertilizer for the crops. A circle of sustainability is being formed. Even the leftover food or food not
eaten in time is used to make compost for the next crop. The role of bees is also included.
There is a lot of interesting information in this film. People are being changed by providing jobs and encouraged by growing healthy food for families. Food insecurity is a real problem for low income families and jobs not requiring specific skills and education are hard to find. Especially, for people who have served time for crimes. 3 1/2* (I liked this movie)

Special
Note: Major problems facing
humanity are food security, job creation and water shortages. Of course global warming is a myth and
therefore would not be impacting any of these problems?
