Ellie
May Adams lives in the poor part of town on Primrose Hill. She lives with her younger sister,
drunken jobless father, grumpy grandmother and her mother. The only money the family has is what
her mother gets from gentleman callers.
Ellie May knows the Hill is not a good part of town and she doesn’t want
to stay here. She meets Gramp on
her way to the beach to get some clams for the family. Gramp has a son, Ed Wallace and he
follows Ellie to the beach to advise her on clamming. He offers to give her a ride home on his motorcycle with a
sidecar. Gramp and Ed run a gas
station and a café. Ellie quickly
falls in love with Ed and she runs away with him to get married.
There
is one mistake Ellie makes, she doesn’t tell Ed the truth and this comes back
to bite her later. She loves her
new life, working in the café with Gramp and being married to Ed. He doesn't care much for her family either when he meets them. 3 ½* (I liked this movie)
