Aidan
Bloom is a struggling actor with two children and his wife works to support the
family. The children are going to a
conservative Jewish school because Aidan’s father is paying for the tuition. Aidan's father, Gabe has just learned his cancer has
returned and he won’t have the money for the school bill. He’s going to try an experimental
treatment but he will need to pay for this himself. Aidan and his wife Sarah reluctantly decide that Aidan will
home school Grace and Tucker until the fall semester. Both Aidan and his brother Noah are
struggling with the return of Gabe’s cancer.
The
characters are interesting and the film moves along with normal family
problems. But, there is a constant
undercurrent of worry running in the background? Children worrying about school, parents worrying about jobs
and money, an older parent/grandparent worrying about illness and money. Everything seems to be slightly light
even with these heavy topics? 3*
