Alicia
is a teenager living in Colombia with her family but her remote village is
burned because of civil war and she loses her parents in the fire. She journeys to visit her uncle at a rundown
guesthouse on the shores of a great lake in the highlands of the Andes. He allows her to stay and she works
with Dona Flora to fix the roof and get the guesthouse ready for the tourist
season. She meets Mirichis, he
found her at the side of the river and brought her to her uncle Oscar’s
house. He wants her to go away
with him but Alicia doesn’t know what she wants to do.
This
is a very quiet and slow paced film.
The scenery is very beautiful and also the area very rundown. It’s difficult to make a living and
procure basic needs. Everyone is hoping for the tourists to show up but there has been no word that they
are coming. 3* (This movie is OK)
