This
film is about Formula 1 racing in the 1970’s. It is based on the true story of drivers James Hunt from
England and Niki Lauda from Austria.
They had a very competitive season in 1976 when both were willing to
risk their lives to win the championship.
The styles of these drivers were different on the track and off. James Hunt was a playboy, heavy drinker
and constant partygoer. Niki Lauda
was very serious without a filter and social skills.
This
is a very tense film. These cars are
very fragile, conditions on the track can be hazardous , the car speeds are very
fast and a mistake can have tragic consequences. Since I like cars in most forms, I did like this movie. I didn’t know any of the background information
about this particular time or this sport.
3 ½* (I liked this movie)
123 min, Action directed by Ron Howard with Daniel Bruhl, Chris Hemsworth, Olivia Wilde, Alexandra Maria Lara, Pierfrancesco Favino, David Calder, Natalie Dormer, Stephen Mangan, Christain McKay.
