Adapted from a Pultizer Prize
winning novel by James Agee, the setting is Knoxville TN in 1915. This
was also a play titled
All the Way
Home. Rufus is seven years old, his mother is going to have another
baby but they haven't told him yet. He gets a lot of bullying (it was
not called bullying in 1915) from his classmates because of his name and
they don't believe what he tells them even though it's true. He said
he drove the family's Model T with his father but that can't be true?
There is tension in the family on both his mother's side and his
father's side because of different religions.
The times were really
different in this age, calmer and slower but things that bother them
greatly can be barely noticed or thought about in this time. The
characters and story draw you in and they feel very comfortable. 3 1/2*
