Thom is turned down again for another job and
finds his apartment landlord throwing all of his belongings into the hallway.
With no job prospects and no place to sleep, he turns to driving his
illegal taxicab around the streets of New York. He bought the cab at an auction and doesn't work with a cab company. Claire isn't having a
good day either, her husband is flirting with his secretary and her
estranged father has suffered a heart attack in California. She hails
what she assumes to be a cab but instead it is Thom in his supposed-to-be cab. With
her life
in ruins, Claire
decides to pay Thom to drive her home to California and he reluctantly
agrees. Their path across America takes more than the usual detours and is filled with a lot of complications.
This
is good, you don't know until the last scenes how this is going to
end. I thought it was interesting that this is a husband and wife team
plus directed by the husband. 3 1/2* (I liked this movie)
