This film is adapted from a television play written by Reginald Rose. There are gangs in the city, Frankie Dane leads the Hornets and he’s eighteen. Boys usually join the gangs at the age of fifteen. The Hornets have a rumble with another gang in an alley. The Hornets are the winners and they take a prisoner from the rival gang. Mr. McAllister sees one of the boys threaten the prisoner with a zip gun and he notifies the police. Mr. McAllister also slaps Frankie the next time they meet. Frankie is determined to pay Mr. McAllister back by killing him.
A good story line and acting, filmed in black and white and seems dated. The basic message and theme of the film still applies to
American life. One difference
today is that we have a lot of names to diagnose the behaviors of the boys in
the gangs. 3* (This movie is OK)

He was 27 in 1956 and I thought all along that he was a lot older
than 18?
