Winter
is a rescued dolphin with a specially created prosthetic tail and she was featured in Dolphin Tale of 2011. Panama is about 40 years old and she
shares a tank with Winter as a surrogate mother. Panama passes away and Winter goes into deep depression. Mandy is another rescued dolphin at the
Clearwater Marine Hospital but testing has shown that she dolphin can be
released back into the wild. One
of the missions of the hospital is to return dolphins to their natural habitat if possible. If they don’t have a tank mate for
Winter, she will need to be transferred to another facility. It’s a USDA requirement that dolphins
not be kept alone in tanks unless specifically necessary.
There
is a lot of drama to be worked out in this sequel. Many scenes in this film are based on the actual events in
Clearwater Florida and they show the actual rescues of Mandy and Hope at the end of the film. Many of the cast from Dolphin Tale return for this sequel. 3 1/2* (I liked this movie)
