Milo
and Maggie Dean live on opposite coasts and they haven’t contacted each other
in ten years. The strange part of
this is that they are twins. They
were best friends growing up and they both suffered a deep wound because their dad committed
suicide when they were fourteen.
They don’t get along with their mother so they try not to see her very
much. She doesn’t seem to care
about them but she cares about herself?
She is more into ‘self-help?’
Milo is having trouble with his life, is this all there is? Maggie is having trouble with her
marriage, is this all there is?
What is the key to fixing all these problems?
This
film is also listed as a comedy but that feature is just below the surface. On the upper level there are a lot of regrets
and loneliness. The comedy is
trying to pull them up but they seem to be constantly dragged down by the
drama. I really liked the ending
of this film and I don’t want to give too much away about any of this
movie. 4* (I really liked this
movie)
93
min, Drama directed by Craig Johnson with Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Luke
Wilson, Ty Burrell, Boyd Holbrook, Joanna Gleason, Kathleen Rose Perkins.
Note: Imdb 6.9 out of 10, 87% critic 71%
audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 3 ½*.
Special
Note: Wiig and Hader worked
together as cast mates for a long time on Saturday Night Live and they are good
friends as well. This combination
gives them very good chemistry on screen.
