Al Roberts tells his
story in flashbacks about how he was headed to Los Angeles to meet up with his
girlfriend Sue Harvey and they were going to get married. They met in a New York nightclub and
Sue wanted to try her hand in Hollywood.
Al feels like he’s going nowhere and he misses Sue. Charles Haskell picks up Al and it’s
Al’s good fortune that Charles is going all the way to California. Charles even springs for a meal for
both of them. A short time down
the road it starts to rain and Al finds our Charles is dead? This turn of events starts a detour for
Al.
Everyone is supposed
to be very tough in this film but I think there isn’t much meat here, mainly
barely cooked cheap vegetables. I
didn’t enjoy this, I couldn’t wonder if everything would turn out all right for
Al because I don’t really care enough about him? Does Al really love Sue or is he looking for her paycheck to
give him a break? 2* (I didn’t
like this movie)
