Dennis
has just been released from a Canadian prison after four years and he’s on
parole. He’s determined to not be
a thief or robber anymore. His wife has tells him
she wants to marry Rene and she told his daughter that he’s dead. Dennis cannot find a job but agrees to
sell Christmas trees with Rene.
Rene was supposed to show up on Dennis’ last job as a safe cracker but he
didn’t and that's how he landed in prison. They set up shop on a New
York City street but sales are very slow.
Giamatti
is a sad sack but not as much as he usually can be in films. Hawkins has a different
role as a Russian maid and house sitter for a pair of wealthy dentists. Probably better seen at Christmas
instead of March? 3* (This movie
is OK)
