Woody
Grant receives a letter in the mail telling him that he has won a million
dollars!! His sons, David and Ross
try to tell him that the letter is a scam and he really hasn’t won any
money. Woody starts heading down
the road every chance he gets to walk from Billings Montana to Lincoln Nebraska to claim his
money. Finally, everyone decides
they will need to make the trip so he will stop walking down the road. They spend some time in the small town
in central Nebraska where Woody grew up and he becomes a celebrity because of the money. Several relatives and a friend hit Woody up for money
despite his sons telling them there isn’t any money!
This
is filmed in black and white and it is the most non-adventure movie that I’ve
ever seen? There is a lot of
family dysfunction and bickering.
The sons do find out a lot about their family history on the trip. I know there was a lot of buzz about
this film but it is very slow, drab and dreary but with good acting. I’m glad I didn’t pay to see this in
the theater. 3* (This movie is OK)
