This is a true 18th century historical drama detailing the
love triangle between Queen Caroline Matilde of Great Britain and the royal
physician, Johann Struensee of Germany.
Caroline is married to mad Danish King Christian VII. Because of Struensee’s influence on the
King, he is able to begin reforms throughout Denmark. Conservative enemies use the relationship between Johann and
the Queen to their advantage to regain their power.
Very beautiful scenery, a lot of soap opera drama but you do feel for Caroline,
Johann and Christian after they become pawns because of the schemes of
Christian’s stepmother, Juliane Marie of Brunswich-Wolfenbuttel. 3 ½* (I liked this movie)
