Veronica Mars 2014

Veronica Mars

Logan Echolls, Veronica’s ex-boyfriend has been charged with murder and he calls her for help.  She’s just interviewed with a top New York law firm and she wants to put her detective past behind her.  She agrees to head back to her hometown of Neptune to help Logan find a good lawyer.  Veronica doesn’t like the way his case is being handled and she finds herself pulled back into her old life.
This film is a takeoff on the Veronica Mars television series from 2004 to 2007.  There is a particular fan base and audience for this series with pop music, widescreen color-noir photography, smart phones, texting, video streaming and sharply defined characters.  Unfortunately, I guess I am not part of this fan base?  I thought the movie was poorly acted, boring, a frenzy of double and triple crossing.  2* (I didn’t like this movie)

107 min, Comedy directed by Rob Thomas with Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Chris Lowell, Percy Daggs III, Tina Majorino.

Note:  Imdb 7.1 out of 10, 78% critic 84% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 3 ½*.
Special Note:  This film was financed by the crowdfunding service Kickstarter.
