Kate Harris is
running a rural residential home for elderly people. Ellie, her sister gets a degree and she comes to work at the
home. Kate learns their mother is
sick and she goes to stay with her.
That leaves Ellie in charge of Donald, Georgia and two sisters, Heather
and Hazel. The other residents
have gone to be with their families for Christmas. This group is called The Hard Core and they are impossible
to live with. They have
discouraged new residents from coming to live here and the home faces closure.
Donald calls early in
the morning for his breakfast, Georgia demands martinis made a certain way and
with olives, the two sisters are feuding and not speaking to each other. Georgia disappears and is found singing
in a local pub. Ellie wants to run
away to but she has to stay for her sister. This is interesting and The Hard Core people are funny
except for how they treat Kate. They are determined to live to the hilt as long as they have left. 3*
