Every Second Counts 2008

Joe Preston has a wife Helen and a 17 year-old daughter Brooke.  He’s not very good at managing his money and he’s been slacking off at his job as an auto mechanic.  He used to be a professional cutting horse rider 18 years ago but he broke his leg and that ended his career.  The only thing he can focus on now is working with Brooke on her cutting horse riding.  Brooke is doing really well in high school and she wants to go to college.  She’d like to be a veterinarian but she needs a scholarship since her family can’t afford for her to go.
The setting is supposed to be Washington State but it’s filmed in Canada.  The riding competitions are supposed to be on the West Coast too.  It is interesting to see a different kind of riding.  Cutting is a western-style equestrian competition.  The horse and rider working as a team before a judge or panel of judges.  They need to show the skills and ability of the horse and rider to cut cattle from a herd.  In this film, three people are working the cattle with a 2 ½ minute time limit.  3* (This movie is OK)

88 min, Drama, TV Movie directed by John Bradshaw with Stephen Collins, Barbara Williams, Magda Apanowicz, Brett Dier, Eric Keenleyside, Colby Johannson, Jim Shield, Chelah Horsdal, Kwesi Ameyaw, Frank Cassini.

Note:  Imdb 5.7 out of 10, 50% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Amazon 4.5* out of 5* with 64 reviews.
Special Note:  Filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  Canadian Magda Apanowicz has the role of Brooke Preston and she’s supposed to be 17 but she is actually 22 at filming.
