The Fury 1978

This film is based on a 1976 novel by John Farris.  A secret US agency is searching for teens with parapsychology abilities.  They are to be trained to become killers in war situations.  Peter Sandza is thought to be dead in a boating accident but he faked his death.  His son, Robin Sandza has been recruited into this secret program.  Gillian Bellaver thinks she is going to be helped to work with her abilities but she’s brought into the same training program.  She can see and feel what is happening to Robin.  Peter asks her to help him locate his son.
Some of the scenes seem dated and what the teens can do is not as much as they could do now with CGI.  I thought this film was based on a Stephen King novel but that's not the case.  It’s somewhat like Carrie but with more teens who have more abilities.  Carrie released all her powers when she became angry and that also happens with Robin.  Gillian is more in control of her temper but she is worried about hurting other people.  3* (This movie is OK)

118 min, Sci-Fi directed by Brian De Palma with Kirk Douglas, John Cassavetes, Carrie Snodgress, Charles Durning, Army Irving, Fiona Lewis, Andrew Stevens, Carol Eve Rossen, Rutanya Alda, Joyce Easton, James Belushi.

Note:  Imdb 6.4 out of 10, 80% critic 49% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 3*, Amazon 4* out of 5* with 132 reviews, Slant Magazine 4*.
Special Note:  Bolingbrook, Chicago and Lake Forest, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; Caesarea and Herziiya Studios, Israel.  This is the first film for Daryl Hannah, Laura Innes, Andrew Stevens and James Belushi (uncredited).  Amy Irving attended a biofeedback clinic to learn about different levels of consciousness.  She experienced psychic changes and that gave her a better understanding of how her character would behave.  Sissy Spacek (she had the role of Carrie) was considered for the role of Gillian Bellaver.  The fictitious government agency is MORG and that stands for Multiphasic Operations Research Group.
