Arms and the Man 1958

This film is based on a play by G.B. Shaw.  In 1865, Swiss Captain Bluntschili fights as a mercenary in the war between Bulgaria and Serbia.  A few Bulgarian troopers attack his group of soldiers and he learns that he’s got the wrong ammo for his cannon.  He has no choice but to flee!!  He ends up in the bedroom of his enemy’s fiancée, Raina Petkoff.  He forces her at gunpoint to hide him.  Raina is betrothed to Army Officer Sergius.  Shockingly, later Bluntschili is warmly welcomed into the Petkoff home??
This movie became a SLOG from the beginning to get through??  I thought it was not funny and it was not romantic!!  There are many very dull scenes!!  Sergius is so self absorbed that it is unbearable to listen to him drone on!!  Raina’s parents seem to hang on hang on his every word.  They must be starved for conversation??  2* (Ididn't liked this movie)
