World’s Greatest Dad 2009

Lance Clayton is a man who has learned to settle.  His son, Kyle is an insufferable jerk.  Lance is dating Claire, the school's art teacher.  She doesn't want to get serious or even acknowledge publicly they're dating.  In the wake of a freak accident, Lance suffers the worst tragedy and the greatest opportunity of his life?  He is suddenly faced with the possibility of all the fame, fortune and popularity he ever dreamed of!!  If he can only live with the knowledge of how he got it??

Robin Williams initially intended to take a small role as a favor to writer/director Bobcat Goldthwait.  They have been close friends since their days performing stand-up comedy together.  Williams was so impressed with the script that he requested to play the lead instead.  When Dr. Pentola is handing out copies of Kyle's book 'You Don't Know Me', they briefly show two pages in the book. What is actually shown is two pages of 'The Metamorphosis' by Franz Kafka?

This is a very dark comedy about a father who inadvertently profits from an accident.  There's strong language in nearly every scene.  The sexuality is rampant, especially in early scenes.  The teenage boy is a porn aficionado!!  He constantly talks about explicit sexual acts, masturbates to magazines and other stimuli and even tries auto-erotic asphyxiation.  There's only one actual sex scene but the naked body of star Robin Williams is briefly shown in another scene.  In comparison to the sex and language, the movie's violence and substance use are rather mild.  An adult does smoke marijuana and allows an underage friend to eat a pot brownie.  1 1/2* (I really didn’t like this movie) (I could not get beyond it being terrible right  from the beginning with terrible language and the plot is terrible too!
