Breath 2017

This film is based on an award winning and international bestselling novel by Tim Winton.  The setting is in mid-70’s in the small town of Denmark on the coast of Australia.  Pikelet and Loonie are now teenagers and they’ve been friends for a long time.  They begin to become interested in surfing and they meet Sando.  He has a lot of surfing experience and there have been pictures in magazines of him surfing.  He begins to challenge Pikelet and Loonie to take greater and more dangerous risks on their boards.  Pikelet is not as much of a daredevil as Loonie.  The word daredevil is Loonie’s middle name!!  Loonie is more willing to tackle the wilder surf as well.  He almost caused a lumber truck to turn over while riding his bicycle near the truck.
Pikelet has had a good life with good parents.  Loonie’s dad is a bit rough around the edges.  The scenery is very beautiful of the coastal areas and the waves.  It's tough to be a teenager with a lot of unknown ahead about the choice of a path in life.  3 1/2* (I liked this movie)
