Edie 2017

Edie is 83 years old and her husband has recently passed away.  They were married nearly 30 years.   She met him, they got married and soon after he had a stroke.  She feels like she hasn’t done anything in her life that she wanted to do.  When she got married, her father planned a climbing trip for them to the Scottish Highlands but they didn’t go.  Edie took care of her husband and he treated her badly.  He was cold, controlling and he kept her isolated.  She has a daughter but their relationship is strained and more so lately.  Nancy wants Edie to go into a retirement home.  Edie decides she must go on a camping adventure and climb Mount Suilven in Scotland.  Right away things start to go a bit badly.  She has a reservation for a place to stay but she is a day early and they don’t have accommodations for her?

The scenery of the Scottish countryside is very beautiful.  Sheila Hancock in the role of Edie is a veteran of the Royal Shakespeare Company.  Edie really deserves this enlightening journey, she has paid her dues without much reward.  It will take courage, determination and strength for her to reach her goal of climbing Mount Suilven.  Edie has many wrinkles but she has wonderfully beautiful blue eyes.  4* (I really liked this movie)
