Shannon's Rainbow 2012

Shannon's Rainbow     This film is based on a true story.  Shannon’s father passes away suddenly and she becomes lost in grief with anger and sadness.  She learns her father kept a secret, he lied about her mother being dead.  He also lied to Shannon’s mother and told her that Shannon was dead.  She meets her mother and they agree that Shannon will stay with her for the summer.  She falls in love with a horse and begins working at the ranch.  Together they overcome injury and hurt with victories and setbacks along the way.
I wanted to like this movie but it is so predictable, almost with a signpost at every turn telling you what will happen next.  I fast-forwarded through a section of horse abuse and I was glad about doing this.  2 1/2* (This movie is just so-so)

90 min, Family directed by Frank E. Johnson with Julianne Michelle, Claire Forlani, Jason Gedrick, Louis Gossett Jr., Eric Roberts, Stephen Colletti, Michael Madsen.

Note:  Blockbuster 3 ½*, imdb 4.7 out of 10, 29% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.  (Also titled Amazing Racer)
