Twice Born 2012

Twice Born

In 1984, it was nearly time for the Winter Olympics and there wasn’t any snow.  Gemma was in Bosnia and she meets American photographer Diego.  They had a brief time together, Diego thought she was magical and brought the snow for the games.  She returned home to marry someone else.  Diego kept in touch with her and when Gemma was divorced, he came to see her.  Gemma is now ready to become a mother and Diego had said what he wanted out of life was to have a child.
This film is complicated and I didn’t like the out of chronological order filming style.  It goes back and forth between the present and Gemma’s memories of the past about Diego.  I also wonder about the casting because Cruz is 11 years older than Hirsch?  It seems they are supposed to be close to the same age in the film?  2 ½* (This move is so-so)

127 Min, Drama directed by Sergio Castellitto with Penelope Cruz, Emile Hirsch, Adnan Haskovic, Saadet Aksoy, Pietro Castellitto, Mira Furlan.

Note:  Imdb 7.4 out of 10, 18% critic 69% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 1 ½*.
