Homefront 2013

Homefront

This film is based on a novel written by Chuck Logan.  Phil Broker was working for the DEA when he infiltrated the Outcast biker group.  When other agents moved in, they were forced to kill the son of the boss.  He went to prison but blames Phil for his son’s death even though he was reaching for a weapon at the time of the shooting.  Phil and his nine-year-old daughter move to a home in the country in Louisiana.  Maddy wants a horse and Phil would like to live in a small town.  Maddy confronts a bully at school and it brings down the wrath of the boy’s parents and uncle.
There is plenty of action in this film with a lot of explosions and gunfire.  Statham really knows how to defend himself and his daughter doesn’t take teasing either.  Franco and Ryder have different roles than the norm for them.  This film reminds me of Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson.  There are plenty of crazy bikers and homeboys.  3* (This movie is OK)

100 min, Action directed by Gary Fleder with Jason Statham, James Franco, Winona Ryder, Izabela Vidovic, Kate Bosworth, Marcus Hester, Clancy Brown, Omar Benson Miller, Rachelle Lefevre, Frank Grillo.
