Noah 2014

Noah

The main theme of this film is the building and the journey of the ark but there is also a retelling of the birth of the universe.  There is a lot going on in this film, computer generated rock beasts, unusual animals, visions and hoards of people trying to get to the ark.  When the water starts to flow, it comes down as rain and also from deep in the earth.  There are times that Noah becomes unhinged due to his heavy responsibilities and duties.
There are a lot of ideas in this film from other movies, various religions, myths, comic books and even a hint of transformers?  I love how clean everyone is with perfect clothing, subtle makeup and very nice hair.   They also speak with some kind of accent to indicate they are from an “older” time?  I did think it was interesting that they put all the animals to sleep in the ark with some kind of smoke.  2 1/2* (This movie is so-so)

138 min, Action directed by Darren Aronofsky with Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Nick Nolte, Marke Margolis, Kevin Durand.

Note:  Imdb 6.1 out of 10, 77% critic 44% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 3*.
