Quicksilver 1986

Jack Casey was formerly a hot-shot stock market whiz kid.  He made a disastrous professional decision and his life in the fast lane was over.  Jack loses his nerve and joins a speed delivery firm.  He rides a bicycle to avoid traffic jams in San Francisco.  Terri is a fellow biker and Jack begins to be attracted to her.  He also meets Hector and he’s a budding entrepreneur.  Is it possible that Jack can regain his nerve and his self-respect?  He may be able to turn his life around and be on a more sound footing in his life?
This is the second time I have seen this film.  The actors do a good job in this movie and there are a lot of 80's soundtracks in the background.  This all fits in because this is a very 80's film.  I did like that the group of messengers socialize together and they also look out for each other.  It is also inspiring because Bacon's character goes from a high profile and high paycheck job to something completely different.  It's easy to make mistakes about what you want to do for the rest of your life!!  Turning it back around in your favor takes courage.  3 1/2* (I liked this movie)

105 min, Crime directed and written by Thomas Michael Donnelly with Kevin Bacon, Jami Gertz, Paul Rodriguez, Rudy Ramos, Andrew Smith, Gerald S. O’Loughlin, Laurence Fishburne, Louie Anderson, Charles McCaughan, David Harris, Whitney Kershaw, Joshua Shelley, Georgann Johnson, Nelson Vails, Lou Dinos.
Note:  Imdb 5.7 out of 10 with 4,212 views, Roger Ebert 2*, Rotten Tomatoes 13% with 15 critics, 37% audience with 5,009 ratings, Metacritic 43 out of 100 with 8 critics, Letterboxd 2.7* out of 5*, Amazon 4.3* out of 5* with 141 ratings.

Special Note:  Filmed at 4th Street Bridge, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California.  The film company was granted permission to shoot on the options floor of the Pacific Stock Exchange.  This is the first time filming of the latest state-of-the-art equipment and it had opened just two months earlier.  This building is now an Equinox fitness center on Pine & Sansome in the financial district.  Kevin Bacon met several bike messengers.  They told him that you can make your own schedule, you can work hard and make more money, or work less and make less money.  Essentially, you are your own boss.  Extensive technical advice was provided by Olympic cyclist Nelson Vails.  He helped train the actors and gave them insight into the life of a real bicycle messenger.   Kevin Bacon rides a single-speed ’84 Raleigh Competition.  There are three different configurations, fixed-gear, single-speed also and outfitted with 0-degree trick forks during apartment scenes.  Cameras were mounted on some of the bikes to give the sensation of riding along with the bikers through crazy and heavy traffic.
