Wallander Season 4, Episode 1 The White Lioness aired 5/8/2016

Wallander is attending a conference in South Africa.  Swedish national Inga Hedeman is an outreach worker and she is missing.  Local police chief Van Heerden is under pressure from Inga's husband Axel to find her.  Wallander is asked by Acel to help him investigate.  Wallander has a partner working with him.  She is widowed sergeant Grace Mthembu.  Journeying alone to a township to see Victor Mabasha, a former client of the Hedemans, Wallander dodges an assassin's bullet!!  Grace suspects that Axel paid Victor to kill his wife?  Victor is killed before he can give Wallander further information about the case.  Political candidate Bernie Mewiya is an opponent of European investments in this country.  Bernie steps into the action but having discovered Inga's fate, Wallander decides that the solution to the case will lead him to corruption in very high places.

This is a difficult episode to watch because of the intense poverty and living conditions in South Africa.  It is easy to pay a small amount of money to have someone killed with no questions asked.  Kurt is also struggling with his mind since it is trying to play tricks on him.  He doesn’t want to admit that it is due to the onset of Alzheimer disease.  There is no cure, he must try to hold himself together and keep some level of sharpness in his mind.  5* (I really liked this episode)
