Based on the semi-autobiographical stories of H.E. Bates, the setting is the early 1900's in England's North Country and there are six episodes. Uncle Silas is a farm laborer who gets into a lot of trouble every time. This is like watching episodes of The Waltons but from an earlier time, an entirely different age where time passed more slowly without electrical advantages. These are very enjoyable. 3 1/2* (I liked this movie)150 min, Drama, directed by Tom Clegg with Albert Finney, Sue Johnston, Joe Prospero.
