Real Steel 2011

Real Steel (2011)     A retired boxer moves to the business side of the ropes after human boxers are replaced by robots.  This is an adaptation of the Twilight Zone episode Steel.  Charlie has become a two-bit promoter and he pieces together robots from scrap metal.  He makes the rounds on the underground boxing circuit and he's just about at the bottom of the barrel in every way.  Charlie unwilling takes on the task of taking care of his 11 year old son for the summer after his mother passes away.  Max turns things around for Charlie with a true champion robot boxer.
The robot boxers can really tear each other up in the ring and you want to yell, "stop beating that robot to pieces."  You become attached to the robots like they were human and you don't want to see them get beat up.  Charlie makes a lot of mistakes and you want to give him some hits.  3 1/2* (I liked this movie)

127 min, Sci-Fi directed by Shawn Levy with Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, Anthony Mackie, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand, Hope Davis, James Rebhorn, Karl Yune.

Note:  Blockbuster 4*, imdb 7.2 out of 10, 59% critic 77% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
