This film recreates the exploratory adventures of the 19th century visionaries Sir Richard Burton and John Henning Speke. The heart of the film is the effort by Burton and Speke to discover the true source of the Nile river. Many injuries and hardships befell both explorers on this journey and previous adventures. They formed a strong bond of friendship.This movie is long but the adventures are remarkable, I'm not sure how historically accurate but it was the lifelong dream of the director to make this film. Burton and Speke had a strong friendship that unraveled because of a lie. 3 1/2* (I liked this movie)
