Sidewalls 2011

Medianeras (2011)     Sidewalls examines how architecture of a city defines the lives of two of its residents.  Director Taretto pays homage to the city of Buenos Aires as he reflects on how urban chaos and new technologies can unite people but also keep them apart (as the sidewalls of the title).  Mixing animation, photography and graphic art he reveals the isolation of the characters and the anxieties that are a staple of modern life in a noisy city that with irresistible charm.
     The pace is very slow, it is difficult to keep interested but you are drawn into the lives of Mariana and Martin.  You want them to meet but you don't know how this will happen.  3* (This movie is OK)


93 min, Drama directed by Gustavo Taretto with Pilar Lopez de Ayala, Ines Efron, Javier Drolas, Adrian Navarro, Rafael Ferro, Carla Peterson, Jorge Lanata, Alan Pauls, Romina Paula.
Note:  Blockbuster 2 1/2*,imdb 7.2 out of 10,70% critic 82% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
