Never Say Never Again 1983

The head of SPECTRE, Ernst Blofeld steals two nuclear Tomahawk cruise missiles from a US Air Force Base in the United Kingdom.  NATO is asked to pay a ransom of billions of dollars to SPECTRE to keep the missiles from being launched.  Before Bond is sent to investigate, M thinks he needs to go to a health spa to lose weight and get back into 007 form since he failed a routine training exercise.  Overseeing the detonation plan is Maximillian Largo.  His girlfriend Domino’s brother Jack is being used to obtain the missiles because he is in the US Air Force as a pilot.  Jack had a retina transplant to match up with the retina of the US President in order to release the missiles.  As soon as he has done his small job, Fatima Blush eliminates him.  Bond finds out the missiles are in an underground facility near the Ethiopian Coast.
It’s been twelve years since Sean Connery was in a Bond role.  During filming he is 52 years old, this is his seventh film and his last.  Kim Basinger is 29 years old and she started acting in 1976.  There is a mere 23 years between their ages.  A lot of the plot in this film is from Thunderball of 1965.  There must be diving scenes and sharks!!  3 ½* (I liked this movie)

134 min, Action directed by Irvin Kershner with Sean Connery, Kim Basinger, Klaus Maria Brandauer, Max von Sydow, Barbara Carrera, Bernie Casey, Alec McCowen, Edward Fox, Pamela Salem, Rowan Atkinson.

Note:  Imdb 6.2 out of 10, 63% critic 37% audience on Rotten Tomatoes, Roger Ebert 3 ½*, Amazon 4* out of 5* with 817 reviews.
Special Note:  Filmed in Malta, France, Monaco, Bahamas, England and Florida.  The title came from a comment made by Sean Connery after Diamonds Are Forever that he would NEVER do another Bond film.
