Year by the Sea 2016

This film is based on a memoir written by Joan Anderson.  Joan and Robin have been married 30 years and they have two adult sons.  The oldest son has just gotten married and Joan learns at the reception that Robin has put their house on the market?  Joan is wondering how long Robin intended to wait before telling her is news?  The company he works for is closing the local office in Nyack New York.  Robin will be working in the Kansas office instead.  Joan decides she needs to work on her own life now that she doesn’t have her sons to take care of.  She has a LOT of unhappy feelings about Robin’s silence concerning his situation.  Joan rents a rustic cottage in Cape Cod and she’s determined to write a book.
The scenery in Cape Cod is beautiful and also the wild life.  It’s also a tough environment in the area where Joan is living.  Pumping water, cutting wood for heat and rowing a small boat to the town.  This is an interesting story and Joan really changes everything about her life.  She wants to thrive in this new environment and regain her sense of self.  Robin seems to get more cranky and grumpy instead of moving forward?  3* (This movie is OK)
