Vera Season 9 of 2019: Episode 4: The Seagull:

Adapted from a Stanhope novel with the same tile written by Ann Cleaves.  DCI Vera Stanhope must open up a cold case to find the connection between a skeleton discovered underneath the site of a notorious burnt-out night club and a present-day murder nearby.  Vera travels to the beach at Whitley Bay to start her investigations.  This is a strong and troubling case for Vera!!  It takes her back decades to the time when a dodgy character from London ran all kinds of shady operations from this club.  Vera’s dad Hector could have been involved with some of these events?  Vera also has to deal with a sly and corrupt policeman who is serving a lengthy prison sentence for corruption.

Vera is not sure yet but a local crime family may be involved with both deaths.  Also, the original owners of the club have their own secrets to hide.  On top of all this, Vera must deal with taunting about the death of her father.  She is worried that her father could have been corrupt also?  Vera learns that the bar owner had an affair with a girl who worked at the club.  They had a daughter and she was given up for adoption.  Another skeleton is found in the drain and it is a club girl?  Now there are three murders!!  5* (I really liked this series)
Note:  Amazon gives the novel 5* with 148 ratings, Imdb 8.4* out of 10* with 244 reviews.
