The Vanishing of the Bees 2009

The Vanishing of the Bees     An investigative look at what is happening to bee colonies around the world.  Colony Collapse Disorder is happening to many beekeepers, both commercial and private.  It is difficult to determine the exact cause of the disorder because only a few dead bees are found on the ground next to a colony.  It is believed that systemic pesticides are a big factor because they are present in all stages of the growth of a treated seed.
The alarm raised by this film is real but Queen of the Sun is a much better film.  Ellen Page is just OK as the narrator and not very dynamic.  This also needs better direction and editing.  3* (This movie is OK)

87 min, Doc directed by Maryam Henein and George Langworthy with Ellen Page, Bret Adee, Dennis Cardoza, Henri Clement, Jay Feldman, Emilia Fox, Maryann Frazier.

Note:  Imdb 7.0 out of 10, 59% critic 69% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
