There Be Dragons 2011

There Be Dragons     Josemaria Escriva was the founder of Opus Dei in Spain.  Robert Torres travels from London to Spain to do research on Josemaria for a book he is writing.  Robert reaches a dead end when he interviews his own father.  Manolo has been secretive about this chapter of his life and refuses to speak as an official source.  Josemaria and Manolo grew up together and were friends for a long time.  Their paths in life took different courses when Manolo went to fight the Spanish Civil War and Josemaria embraced his faith as a priest.
I had a difficult time with this film.  During the war scenes, it’s hard to tell the people apart.  Which one is Manolo, Oriol, Leila, Lldiko, the only one I was sure of was Josemaria?  It’s also long and didn’t keep my interest after the period of their younger years.  3* (This movie is OK)

122 min, Drama directed by Roland Joffe with Charlie Cox, Wes Bentley, Dougray Scott, Rodrigo Santoro, Jordi Molla, Derek Jacobi, Golshifteh Farahani, Geraldine Chaplin.

Note:  Blockbuster 3*, imdb 5.7 out of 10, 11% critic 58% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
