Call the Midwife Season 8: Christmas Special 2019:

This first episode of Season Eight is the Christmas Special.  The series is inspired by the memoirs of Jennifer Worth.  Two new nuns have jointed Nonnatus House.  Sister Hilda has experience and Sister Frances Frances is newly qualified.  Sisters Julienne and Winifred are called to the Mother House because important decisions must be made by the sisters.  The Mother Superior is very ill and they will need to vote on a replacement for this position.  Sister Julienne is nervous because she believes the other sisters think she should be the new Mother Superior.  Sister Julienne would like to stay in Poplar with the midwives.   A group of Chinese orphans have arrived and their new parents will be coming to take them to new homes.

Trixie returns from her trip to Italy and the midwives attend the difficult birth of triplets.  The midwives were already excited about the impending birth of twins in Poplar but they are all very much surprised when there are three baby girls.  The episodes are always interesting and informative plus they are accurate for the time period.  I am rather GLAD that I don't live in Poplar because everyone knows the business of the other residents!!  5* (I really liked this series)
