Forks Over Knives 2011

Despite having the most advanced medical technology in the world, Americans are sicker than ever by nearly every measure.  Cases of diabetes are exploding and more so among our younger population.  About half of the people are taking at least one prescription drug and major medical operations have become routine.  Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the three leading causes of death.  Billions is spent every year to battle these conditions.  Millions suffer from other degenerative diseases.  Is there a single solution to all of these problems?  Most of our diseases can be controlled or even reversed.  Rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods can do wonders.  Focus on fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains and legumes.  Excludes or minimizes meat (chicken and fish), dairy products and eggs, as well as, processed foods, highly refined foods like bleached flour, refined sugar and oil.
Many people changing their diets to plants based foods have stopped their medications, lost weight and moved away from cancers, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis.  Eating less red and processed meat and dairy products.  The information in this film is very thorough, well-done and well-documented.  Drs. Esselstyn, T. Colin Campbell, Neal Barnard, McDougall are using this eating plan to live healthier and more productive lives.  Also, this diet uses readily available food and it is less expensive than a meat and dairy based diet, plus the savings on medications and doctor visits.  5* (I really liked this film)
