Compliance 2011

Compliance     Sandra is the manager of a fast food chicken restaurant.  Becky is one of her employees and she usually does a good job.  There was a problem with one of the employees leaving the freezer open and they lost a lot of food.  On this busy day they will be short on bacon and pickles.  Sandra receives a phone call from a policeman telling her a woman has complained that she was a customer and Becky stole money from her purse.  Becky denies doing this and says she would never steal.  The policeman says they are at Becky’s house and are searching it because Becky’s brother has been involved in crimes before.
This film caused walkouts and shouting matches when it was shown at the Sundance Film Festival.  The point is to show people will do things out of character when asked by a person of authority and it’s based on real life incidents.  This is stretched out and it becomes tiresome as it continues down the same path but just getting more far out as it goes along.  The entire movie, you are hoping that you would not be this stupid!!  3* (This movie is OK)

90 min, Drama directed by Craig Zobel with Ann Dowd, Dreama Walker, Matt Servitto, Pat Healy, Philip Ettinger, Ashlie Atkinson, Nikiya Mathis, Ralph Rodriguez, Bill Camp.

Note:  Blockbuster 3 ½*, imdb 6.4 out of 10, 89% critic 63% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
