Stoker 2013

Stoker
India Stoker is an only child, she lives in a big house but she doesn’t have any friends.  She’s the girl at school who always studies, does her homework and gets good grades but she doesn’t mingle.  Unexpectedly her father passes away in an auto accident and Uncle Charlie comes upon the scene.  She didn’t know there was an Uncle Charlie?  Her aunt Evie comes to see them but this creates a lot of strife and tension.  They were supposed to have a housekeeper cook but she didn’t show up?  Charlie turns out to be a wonderful cook as well as well traveled.
This film makes you believe that India and Charlie have some kind of special powers that make them different from other people.  They do seem to hear and see more than others but not powers like in Beautiful Creatures.  There are some disturbing events but just a gray secret and not a deep dark black secret.  3* (This movie is OK)

99 min, Mystery directed by Park Chan-wook with Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode, Nicole Kidman, Dermon Mulroney, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till.

Note: Blockbuster 3*, imdb, 7.0 out of 10, 68% critic 67% on Rotten Tomatoes.
