The Morning After 1986

The Morning After     Alex is a washed-up alcoholic actress who drinks until she blacks out.  She wakes up with a dead stranger next to her after a night she doesn’t remember.  She’s in a panic, she tries to get a flight out of LA but all the flights to SF are booked.  She gets a ride with Turner, she meets him in the airport parking lot and then she can’t seem to get rid of him.  Turner keeps turning up until Alex finally decides to let him help her out of this mess.  She also turns to her ex-husband since he’s the only man she really trusts.
Jane Fonda received an Oscar nomination for her role in this film.  This isn’t as good as Klute but she does a strong acting job. This is just OK and seems dated, there is a secret that you don’t find out until close to the end.   3* (This movie is OK)

103 min, Mystery directed by Sidney Lumet with Jane Fonda, Jeff Bridges, Raul Julia, Diane Salinger, Richard Foronjy, Geoffrey Scott.

Note:  Blockbuster 2 ½*, imdb 5.7 out of 10, 71% critic 33% audience on Rotten Tomatoes.

Special Note:  Jane Fonda looks better in this film after her hair is changed from bleached blond with dark roots to a brown shade.  Her appearance has held up a lot better in later years than Jeff Bridges.
